Abstract

Annual active fire density (fires/km2) from satellite-derived estimates of active fires (where detection confidence >30%) with 1km spatial resolution. The MODIS active fire product detects fires in 1-km pixels that are burning at the time of overpass under relatively cloud-free conditions using a contextual algorithm. Provided by Dr Luke Knibbs (and used to develop his automated satellite and land use regression models).
