abstract	The Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) and more recent Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) are hierarchical classification systems of geographical areas consisting of a number of interrelated structures. The data provide a common framework of statistical geography and enables the production of statistics which are comparable and can be spatially integrated.
