abstract	This dataset calculates the SPEI Drought Index from the gridded rainfall and temperature from Australia wide AWAP data (resolution of 0.05 degrees). The intermediary PET calculation uses the Thornthwaite method due to limited data availability. The temporal coverage is 1950-2020.
